I guess many people eventually arrive at them themselves but it is good to be reassured about the approach and even offered a few turns of phrase for some of those difficult conversations. Raising a child with intense emotions can be overwhelming and incredibly isolating. It leaves parents grieving and with a great gulping need and, if there is no medical diagnosis to offer teachers and friends to explain the behaviour, parents may sorely need some sort of validation for their and their child's experience.
I think this book has merit in validating the lives and challenges of these families and offers practical help without pretending that there are quick and easy fixes.

This book provides realistic scenarios and practical applications for dealing with a teen who has intense emotions. It achieves this, and can be read early in a parent's attempt to learn how they can best support their child. Jul 05, Tanya rated it liked it.
